Ritual Remnants: Artifacts from the Ancient City of Tiotihuacan
Feb. 10-March 30 @Art Center of Battle Creek
Kingman Collections in Battle Creek contains over 70 accessioned Teotihuacán cultural items of Mexican origin. For her FURSCA research fellowship project, Albion College anthropology student, DONNA AVINA, has spent a year cataloging, researching, and photographing this collection. This exhibit includes 38 artifact shards from Teotihuacan, an ancient Mesoamerican city that was established around 100 BCE and mysteriously abandoned around 600 CE.
Kids Rock and Mineral Club

Kids can earn their Future Rockheads of America Badges, while learning about earth resources, collecting fossils, Stone Age tools and growing crystals.

Leila Arboretum is excited to host a FREE community wide celebration of the Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8. Join us in the Fantasy Forest to explore the relationship between the Earth, Moon, and Sun through hands-on art and science activities. Don’t miss your chance to view a nearly Total Solar Eclipse in Battle Creek on April 8, 2024 at 3:11!
Nocturnal Camp with Kingman Collections

1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 6-8, 9-10:30 p.m. Aug. 9 @ EastEnd Studio and Gallery

We will be learning all about nocturnal animals. Participants will spend the first three days of camp making art about nocturnal animals. We will put it on display in the Douglas Wolfe Educational Gallery alongside some specimens from the Kingman collection. The last day of camp we will meet at the Kiwanis Youth Conservation Area, located at 22300 15 Mile Road, Bellevue, where we become the nocturnal animals. We will go on a night hike, do some nocturnal games and roast marshmallows at the fire pit. For ages 8 to 12.

Art Center hosts new exhibit on ancient artifacts

The community can take a trip 1,500 years into the past and a deep dive into the Kingman Collections through a new exhibit at the Art Center of Battle Creek.
